The Japanese refusal to admit masks don’t work has meant that bars and restaurants (B&Rs) have been the obvious targets for scapegoating by politicians and the media because they’re almost the only public places where people take off their masks.
Restaurants and bars are STILL “requesting” masking between bites and no talking. What the Faucing hell is the purpose of going out drinking if all you can do is drink? When the pitch forks come for them, these idgits will deserve every jab.
On another note. They couldn’t care less about the loss of income to the businesses that served alcohol and those they employed, but once they figured out it hurts THEIR income, whoa boy, get your young oshiri out there and drink! Like I said, they have earned every bit of bad that comes their way.
An excellent post. I lived in Japan for close to ten years in the 90's, attending university and working professionally. I am formally trained and do actually speak the language.. my in-laws are there etc etc, so Japan is important to me. BUT, I have really been cut off from what has been going on there in the Covid era. I'm delighted to have found you. Thanks for your efforts to raise awareness.
Thanks. Nobody else was writing critically and accurately about Japan’s Covid response in English, least of all the western MSM, so I concluded I had to do so.
Thanks. I figured someone had to document the nonsense here. All the western MSM does is approvingly write “Look how obediently the Japanese wear masks!”
I will just say that I was quick to visit Japan when restrictions were lifted. And when rules on masking were relaxed I stopped wearing one on the Underground. I expected lots of ‘cold looks’ but I don’t remember ever getting one. Probably a case of kuuki ga yomenai but that’s what I felt anyway!
Yep. Alcohol was not to be served but we have nonalcoholic beer here in Japan, no really, we do. So now, when alcohol is not to be served, some establishments will serve you a draft beer, real beer, AND and empty bottle of the nonalcoholic beer. Others are like the “after hours” pubs in Ireland. Entrance is strictly controlled and no one can leave until they close.
In the outskirts of Osaka early this year. I had some old dude keep yelling "Foreigner....Foreigner...leave" at me. I think it made him mad when I just repeat what he said in Japanese to him. He didn't think I knew Japanese.
Here in Australia in 2021 people had to SIT to drink..
Somewhat off-topic:
Did the Japs ever "advise" or "recommend" masturbation instead of bunga bunga? NSW Australia Health did in early 2021!
No, the Japanese don’t discuss such crude topics. I recall the US CDC recommending glory holes though.
WHAT?!!!
Do you have a link handy?
That is a type of info that I use to stick it to them....
[btw, the Japs are some of the horniest people around .... :)]
It’s was the CDC in Canada. My mistake. https://amidwesterndoctor.substack.com/p/this-is-real-advice-from-the-cdc
The Japanese are certainly pervy, but the govt & media don’t sully themselves by discussing sexual matters.
Thanks.
I am not surprised then.....
I will send the pic off to NSW Health to show it up for its lack of details...
The hare-brain fire-from-the-hip ideas continue unabated.
Yep. But it gives me something to write about.
A world of content content content.
Prohibition, Jap style....
Yes, and truth be told, there are speakeasies too.
"speakeasies" ???
So what the government really seems to be aiming for is to get the population to stay home alone and drink prodigiously. For health!

I'm extremely thankful for your presence and your posts! I've learned more about Japan from you than I thought possible. THANK YOU!

Good article.
The mask does not work.
The virus does not exist.
There has never been a pandemic in human history.
