If I had any doubts. I am now 100% convinced that Kishida is a putz. I can do a better job. Then again, so could any homeless person on the street. Guy Gin is correct in calling him a pharma sales rep. I think it's time for everyone in Japan to ignore politicians and become totally independent of the government.

Yes but also true everywhere, the public at large will never ignore their government on such issues.

I will. And I know a few others who do or will do the same.

So do I, but we are too few in number. AND, by ignoring the “recommendations”, I would now either be homeless in Japan and returned to my home country, the US, if my wife who does follow each and every recommendation, did not earn as much as she does.

If you want to know when the next pandemic will occur, check the US presidential elections calendar. Covid and mail in ballots work together ^^

Yikes! You might want to consider moving to Florida...

Good idea. Does Florida have enough room for 120 million people?

Actual Japanese will likely be quite content to say put. However, "Guy Gin" is American so it's definitely a viable option for him and his family.

I guess I will be going to Florida then. Me, my missus, and maybe a few friends. I am afraid alligators but I find morons much scarier.

Apologies, I got you confused with an American Substacker based in Japan who was recently lamenting about all the filing obligations of Americans living abroad. (I believe the US and Eritrea are the only nations in the world that have have citizenship-based taxation, so you have to file taxes every year even if you've lived abroad for decades.)

This is the kinder, gentler alternative to the elderly committing mass seppuku recommended by the Japanese prof from Yale.

And more profitable! As an economist, Prof Narita would doubtlessly agree.

Indeed...economists are devoid of imagination, so profits are the only thing that they can wrap their brains around.

This has been floated again and again in Japan during my time here.

"My number card" - jeez they're pushing that sh*t really hard here! Not sure how much longer I'll be able to avoid it. Would you please have any articles or links on all the personal info it links together @Guy Gin? I have learned my lesson with the "govID" in Australia - where the government "charges and taxes us first" only to be very slow to refund when they make a mistake. (Happened to me few times.) Will do my best to not get sucked into this one here...

I’m sure all the info is available on the official website, but it’ll soon replace health insurance cards and drivers licenses. The govt also wants everyone to link it to their bank accounts. No thanks!

Why is it that so few remember that countries and regions had epidemic and pandemic protocols in place before covid? How is that so few know that all these were discarded almost on day one. Actually, “discarded” may not be correct as it turns out that they simply did the opposite of what these prepanic era protocols called for. Madness.

BTW, did you happen to see any other discussions in Japan regarding Professor Fukushima's lawsuit? Referring to his conference from around a week ago: https://infogame.substack.com/p/japanese-professor-files-lawsuit

I know about as much as everyone else who's watched the videos at this point. The Japanese newspapers and TV wouldn't touch the story with someone else's bargepole. I wish him and the other plaintiffs luck. I assume the court will accept whatever excuses the govt lawyers come up with to justify not releasing the data/contract, but we'll have to wait and see.

I decided to include this. It is part of the after course completion work my discussion class is required to perform. The following is part of one student’s work. It has been redacted.

“We discussed various aspects relating to healthcare during the classes. They mainly included COVI-19 replated topics, such as vaccines and masks.

I learned that the teacher thinks differently than the general public in Japan. I think it's because he collects information not only from media in Japan, but also from all over the world using the Internet. During the class, he gave us a lot of information. In particular, with regard to vaccines and masks, there are lots of the completely different facts that the Japanese government is claiming in the world.”

The Japanese know no more about what is going on than the standard subject (as opposed to “citizen”) in any of our homelands.

Apart from this substack, I have not heard anything of it in Japan. Does not mean it is not out there, but it certainly is not generating any buzz among my medical students.
