Sorry to swear, but this is totally fucked up. Shionogi has managed to produce a very expensive cold medicine that the Japanese government will buy in ridiculously large quantities no doubt. It's obvious as hell that the Japanese government is in the back pocket of the Japanese pharmaceutical industry. Same BS everywhere.
No thanks to the new medication. The best way to avoid getting sick is to stress yourself slight above the threshold: walk slightly faster than you usually do; take cold showers, take the stairs, not the escalator; interact with the environment without a mask. This is why I have only gotten one cold in the past 3 years. These activities are relatively free. They require some cost but I am willing to sacrifice my money to them. I will not spend my money on things that do not work.
